Hello, I'm
Dr Amy Hammon.
Welcome to my independent Counselling Psychology practice.
I’m a Counselling Psychologist and EMDR therapist providing talking therapy for adults. I specialise in helping people who have had traumatic experiences, but I can also help with a range of problems including anxiety, depression, and relationship difficulties.

I provide a safe and confidential space, and help you to make sense of your experiences and find workable, sustainable ways to move forward. My aim is to help you to create meaningful change in your life.

I’m based in Leamington Spa, Warwickshire, where I offer face-to-face psychological therapy. I also offer online sessions UK wide.
About Me
I’m a Counselling Psychologist registered with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC) and a Chartered Member of the British Psychological Society (BPS). Over the last 18 years I have worked in a range of mental health services across the NHS and private sector. I completed my doctorate in 2016 and have worked in NHS community mental health teams since then providing trauma-informed psychological assessment and therapy, supervision, and consultation.
Within my therapeutic work, I use an integrative framework drawing upon Compassion-Focused Therapy (CFT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing (EMDR) and attachment related research. My approach is warm, compassionate, and flexible to suit the unique needs of each individual.
What to expect
When you get in touch
You may be wondering how therapy might help, or if I’m the right therapist for you. We can arrange an initial 20 minute consultation free of charge for you to tell me a bit about yourself and why you’re seeking therapy at this time. This will also give you the chance to ask me any questions that you might have and we can explore the possibility of working together.
During the assessment we will discuss in more detail the difficulties you are currently experiencing. At the end of the assessment, my aim is to form an overall picture or ‘formulation’ of your difficulties from a psychological perspective, with a view to developing some goals and determining the therapeutic direction.
During therapy, my aim is to help you to make sense of and process your experiences, identify repeating patterns or dynamics, develop practical strategies to address challenges, and support you to create meaningful change in your life. The process is collaborative and tailored to your needs. Sessions are 55 minutes, either face-to-face or online, and usually occur on a weekly basis.
